Ferst Readers makes a tremendous difference in students' reading levels.  Since 1999, Ferst Readers has mailed more than five million books to children, ages birth to five, and plays a pivotal role in getting age appropriate literature into the hands of at-risk children.  The program helps develop the skills children need to be successful in school and engages parents in their children's academic progress.  There is no doubt that Ferst Readers impacts success.  Debbie Ross with Ferst Readers of Cherokee County will speak about this program.

Announcing Ball Ground Christmas Home Tour 2019

We are excited to announce that the Ball Ground Business & Community Association and Ball Ground Historical Society have joined forces this year to sponsor the Ball Ground 2019 Christmas Home Tour. We have selected four extraordinary homes for the tour this year. They are Wheeler House on Gilmer Ferry Road, Homiller Historic house on Northridge Road, and two private residences at 311 Old Canton Road and 671 Old Dawsonville Road. Touring these properties will no doubt be one of the highlights of the Christmas Season for many this year!

The tour is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 8th from 11am until 4pm. Advance ticket purchases will be $20, with day of tour tickets also available for $25. In addition to the tour, we will also have a “Christmas Shoppe at the Barn”, which will be open from 11am – 5pm that same day and will be located in the Barn at Wheeler House on Gilmer Ferry Road. The "shoppe” will feature gifts from local businesses suitable for Christmas gift giving. The booth fee will be $50 for a 6’ x 8’ space inside the Barn. We are opening up the opportunity to rent the spaces first to our membership in Ball Ground Business & Community Association and Ball Ground Historical Society. If you are interested in securing a space for this event, please contact Debra Garrard at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or Elaine Gay at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to reserve your spot. Please let us hear from you no later than August 15th, as we will be opening up the remaining spots for other artisans and the like after that time.

For those who may be interested in highlighting their business at this prestigious event, there will be a wide variety of sponsorship opportunities which will be presented and detailed in the very near future. If you would like information about those opportunities in advance, you may contact Bobbi Cowart at This email address is being protected from spambots.
